Here Comes The Sun
Once the sun came out from behind the clouds the waiting feeling was gone and I have been out in the yarden putzing around recharging my internal batteries.
The block is of one quadrant of a paper pieced sunflower. These four blocks are orphan blocks because I forgot to mirror image parts of it and they are all exactly alike. The paper is still in them.
Throughout the waiting, creative endeavors have been happening. One and a half pairs of socks have been knitted and two Quilts of Valor quilts have been quilted, bound and labeled. The third will be done this week end. Then three presentations cases will be made and they will await a meet up with Alycia to hand them over.
Clothing needs to be made. Part of my plan has been implemented. All the fashion fabric has been measured and a tag pinned to the fabric with the yardage and width. All the fronts and backs of the garment patterns have been copied and put into a binder. Now to make a spread sheet with photos of the fabric and the yardage and then match it up to a pattern. Some of this fabric will have to be donated because it was purchased when I worked in the corporate world and will not be appropriate where I work now. What is my work garb now? Mainly tees and jeans because the environment is fairly dirty with bronze dust, liquid latex and molding plaster and I just don't want to ruin good clothes. I can see a lot of shirts and blouses in the sewing future, tho.

Waiting
Lately, I seem to be waiting...
Waiting to go to work
Waiting to go home from work
Waiting for the weekend
Waiting for the spring rains to stop and the ground to dry enough to work in the yarden
Waiting for the car parts to be moved from the guest room
Waiting for the QOV quilts to be quilted so other quilty things can happen
Waiting for something... but I don't really know what. *shrug* Have you ever felt like this?

Denver National Quilt Festival
The busyness from the previous post resulted in not having time to clean up a lot of the photos from this quilt show, which, BTW, was an excellent show. My friend and I enjoyed it immensely. There seemed to be a lot more applique this year, but then maybe that is what I'm tuned for right now. The photo above is just a small section of the Viewer's Choice winner. Each small quilt on this larger quilt was made separately and then appliqued to the background. No detail was overlooked -- including the award ribbons on the quilts. You can click on it to get it bigger. To see the whole quilt click on the Official Denver National Quilt Festival.
Here are some links I have collected over the past weeks on this show.

This Smilebox slide show from Great American Quilt Factory shows a special exhibit of their quilts.
Erin Russek has a two-part post on the Denver National Quilt Festival. Here are
Erin's first post and then
her second post that shows several of the quilts at this show.

Bizzy as a Bee
There is so much bizzy-ness that there really hasn't been time for a photo. Of course, the photo ops on what is happening are not the greatest. It would be like watching paint dry. Yawn. What's been happening around La Casa del Quilter? A lot.
- There is the ongoing knitting. Two different projects are on the needles: a pink donation baby blanket to use up some acrylic yarn and of course the ever-present socks.
- When Quilty Friend came to visit on Saturday, I spent our time together putting a binding on a Quilt of Valor quilt. It is now finished except for the presentation case.
- Sunday, of course, was Mother's day and TheKid took CarGuy and me to dinner as a combination Mother's Day and Father's Day. First words out of his mouth in the parking lot were "Happy Hallmark Day!"
- Quilting commenced on the second of the Quilt of Valor quilts. When I had to pick out some quilting stitches because the edge folded under and got caught in the quilting, it was time to close up the shop for the day.
- I pulled fabrics from the stash for two more donation quilts and worked up a couple of quickie designs in EQ.

May Day
Today was a May Day Tea Party. A dozen ladies gathered at a MagicLady's house for an genteel afternoon of tea and delicate sandwiches. That is until the wine replaced the tea. *grin* Then the noise level rose a bit and picking out our May Baskets made it even louder.
Do you remember making little paper May baskets and filling them with goodies? Then you went around to all your fiend's houses and hung the basket on the door knob, rang the door bell and ran away? I had forgotten all about doing that until the invitation to this tea party arrived with the instructions to make and bring a May basket. I made a quilted basket (what else?) with some flower seeds a potted 'silk' flower, a plant stake, a big red ladybug and a butterfly pin.
A good time was had by all. *giggle*
