I've been doodle quilting!
What's neat about this is both are essentially the same viney thing just different leaves. Give it a try.

C.O.W.
This block is in the hands of the USPS and is on it's way to Nancy, Near Philadelphia. I originally drew the cow many years ago for a scrapbook page and thought it would work well for this. Hope you like it Nancy!

Eternity Scarf
One of my goals for this new year of 2011 is to make more comments on blogs. It is always nice to receive a comment, now isn’t it? I made a comment on Nancy’s Wyoming Breezes blog back in December and ended up winning this beautiful scarf! It is hand knit of angora/lambswool/acrylic/nylon yarn. And it is beeeeutiful and O so soft! Thank you so very much Nancy!
BTW, the photo was lifted from Wyoming Breezes.

Whiter Than Snow
I received an email asking me if I wanted a copy of this book. I did and responded. I also mentioned that I pass my books on to Auntie to read. When I got the package there were two books: one for me and one for Auntie. Auntie and I, treated it like a book club for two and we both recently finished this book. It was hard to discuss it with her as she is deaf.
As for me, I liked this book. But then, I live in Colorado and can picture all the settings that Sandra Dallas describes. The avalanche was so descriptive I could actually HEAR it. That type of slide usually happens in the spring when the under layer of snow gets very unstable.
Do you want to read this? Since I have two copies (Auntie returned hers to me) I'll give one away. So here is another giveaway. Just comment on this post and we'll do another drawing. You have until Monday night -- I'll announce a winner on Tuesday.
REMEMBER: YOU MUST HAVE SOMEWAY FOR ME TO CONTACT YOU IF YOU WIN!

I am remiss
remiss [rɪˈmɪs]adj (postpositive)
And they included this neat pattern too!
Sometimes it DOES pay to be oblivious. Thanks Lynda and Nancy.
1. lacking in care or attention to duty; negligent
I made a comment on Imagine the Possibilities blog from the Great American Quilt Factory about applique. Lynda had asked what type of applique we did and I commented that I was a "totally prepared type of gal". Imagine my surprise when I won a drawing because I didn't even know I was entering. LOL! My prize was an autographed copy of their best selling (and now out-of-print) book Joy to the World. What a gem this is with the patterns for Christmas quilts, place mats, napkins, stockings and more. And don't forget about some of the delicious recipes!

Winnings
On Friday, I came home to two special packages in my mailbox! A week or so ago, I made a comment on Pat Sloan's blog about what quilting podcasts I listen to and how long I've been listening. I have been listening to Annie Smith's Quilting Stash podcast almost since it's inception and I said as much to Pat. I didn't realize that I was entering a drawing and I won! I was able to get one of Pat's books autographed by her. Do you listen to Annie Smith's Quilting Stash podcast ? If you do, you would have heard her mention me.
The other package was an absolutely beautiful handknit scarf that I won in a draw from Vicki, at Knitting Dragonflies. I've been looking at the black scarf/hoodie combo I normally wear and thought that it is time to brighten up my look, so this is the perfect accessory. But wait there's more! She included these fantastic refrigerator magnets in my favorite color: blue. I've been wanting to add a bit of color in my outerwear wardrobe and this lovely scarf just fits.
I just love gifts, don't you?

Want to enter a drawing?
OK, so maybe I shouldn't mention this, 'cause I want to win. But I'll be a good blogger and let you in on a really nice drawing over at It's the Cat's House. Tell Jan you followed the link from me.

Adornment
I have this love affair with earrings. I especially love hoops and the long dangling kind. I have a lot of earrings. And to record them, I've been sketching them in my journal. If you click on the link to the right (My Photos) you will go to my picturetrail site. The album is Dec'05-Feb 23, 2006. The cat earring is the last page in the journal. I will be starting a new journal tomorrow. Or maybe later today, it depends.
I have found that drawing my earrings is a rewarding task. I had gotten in a slump in the wearing of them. In fact, I only wore 2 sets and a single hoop -- all the time. I wasn't changing them at all. This is sad, really, because I have a lot of fun earrings. By making the decision to draw them, I have to study them them. What will look good with what I'm wearing? Is there something on the earring that will catch in my sweater or scarf? I have to study the earring even before selection. And I have to clean it. I said that I haven't been wearing them didn't I?
I have 2 sets of matching piercings and then in my left ear a single piecing. I have started mixing up the earrings -- you know, not wearing the set or wearing a set in one ear and a set in the other ear. It's fun to watch a person's reaction when s/he realizes that my ears don't match. It's artful earring wearing! Kinda like the socks I knit. They are artful too, because I don't bother to match up the stripes. I like that non-conformity, right brained activity.
