Why is the Sky Blue?

I entered an online art quilt challenge called "Why Is The Sky Blue?" I was unable to complete the challenge within the deadline, but I did some designwork on it. I started with the color blue for the first two sketches. Then I played around with lightwaves, or at least my concept of lightwaves. The collage fell into place next. Then when the space shuttle landed and Houston said "Welcome Home" it just reverberated with me. I painted it. The last one is a gluebook page made with junk mail and magazine clippings. I really like this one and may make it someday. I did find out something about myself in this challenge: if I take my sketches to this level of completeness then I feel like I have done the assignment/challenge and do not want to go further. From now on, my sketches will be in pencil or pen.
