Craft

sockdrawer

Craft. It's one of those things that is both a noun and a verb. As a noun, the dictionary defines it as an art, trade, or occupation requiring special skill, esp. manual skill. As a verb, it is to make or manufacture (an object, objects, product, etc.) with skill and careful attention to detail.

What do you see in the image? Lots of hand knit sox. What else do you see? Do you see the divider in the sock drawer? I made that out of a cardboard box. It is my version of this. Why would I want to get so OC about a sock drawer? Well, I found myself wearing the same socks over and over. Plus, I am continuing to knit them and frankly, I was running out of room! Also, the way I had to fold the sox caused the cuffs to stretch out and get really misshapen.

I remember seeing this segmenting technique on The Carol Duvall Show (the Queen of Crafts) in some funky crafty thing. I was brain-storming with myself. You know about brain-storming doncha? Where you make a list of any and all ideas no matter how crazy. The segmenting came up on the list and I applied it to my sock drawer.

How do you like my sox?

  1. A wonderful way to get something you want. I can understand how you are about your socks. I don't have one of those sock drawers, but sometimes I wish I did have one.

  3. Beautiful socks! The organizer idea is a good one, but why not stack them like they do fine wine so you can admire the colors without opening the drawer? LOL!

  8. That's a great idea. I have just one pair of socks I wear all the time in the winter. They are my husband's hunting socks!

I love your Valentine below, too. =) I dated a guy from Loveland, but that was about 40 years ago!

  9. I'm going to try to knit socks this winter. Hope it isn't a disaster as I'm only a basic knitter. Yours are lovely.

  10. I think that if I had fancy socks like you do, I would b e trying to divide up my sock drawer too. You have such beautiful socks, and now you have a display you can enjoy until you can get to wearing those socks.
