Gobsmacked

Truly. CarGuy asked for a new quilt.

Now you need to understand that in the past when I have offered to make a new quilt for him he retorted that "this old blankie is just fine". Well, he recently purchased a new chair and has asked for a new 'blankie'.

I know the size: 54x84. It can't be flannel; I have tried that and it stretches too much and he popped the quilting stitches. It needs to be fairly easy and quick. O fun! I get to make a brand new quilt for him.

  5. I've had people who didn't want a quilt until they saw that everyone else around them was getting one. hmmm, Maybe they were waiting until my skill level was up to their expectation. Enjoy making the blankie for CarGuy.

  9. That's great! Do you have any design ideas yet? (And does he have any design preferences?) Possibly the most nerve-wracking job you can undertake is making a quilt for a loved one. Forget juried shows and public displays and gifts to non-relatives - pleasing family is harder. And not because they're so critical - because WE'RE so self-critical. I hope you do have fun making this. And I hope he loves it.

  10. Surely you can finish something speedy quick. Hope he knows how lucky he is. Feel better soon.

  11. I made my guys chair blankie with flannel on the backing for coziness, but cotton on the front for durability. one of my friends made her hubby one witha sort of long pocket along the bottom to tuck his feet into so they stay toasty. make sure you post pictures! will it be car theme?
