On The Needles: November 1, 2013

There are two different, but concurrent, knitting projects on the needles today. And there is a finish, but that isn't for public consumption because it is an upcoming present and the recipient is a reader of this blog.

Here is the home project: the Chinese Red Vest. Pattern by Cheryl Oberle in her Folk Vests pattern book. Lovely pattern, but I can't find a photo online of the finished garment other than the ones in Ravelry. If you are a member of Ravelry (membership is free) then you can see a finished garment there. Here is my WIP.
Isn't that a lovely pattern stitch? It is an 8 row repeat but very simple to memorize. I have just finished the decrease at the back armholes. The yarn is an older one from my stash: Lana Grossa Cool Wool 100% merino. And, yes, I know it isn't red but a lovely butterscotch color. My only concern is that I might run out of yarn before it is complete.

And the traveling project is another pair of socks. These are a bit of an oxymoron in that the yarn color is named Gingerbread Man but the colors are Halloween. Don't you think so? The pattern I am using is Cookie A's Monkey Socks. I think of these socks as the Flying Monkeys.

  5. I do love the stitch pattern of your vest.

Yes, flying monkey is the perfect name for your socks - definitely NOT gingerbread man.
