It's the Simple Things

Bathing by Robert Lakstagala

Many years ago, in fact too many to even remember, Plantwoman sent me a greeting card with this picture. She doesn't smoke and never has, nor does she have hair like this but still this reminds me of her. Why? It's the bathtub. She lives in an older house with a small bathroom and a tub exactly like this one: perfect for soaking. I matted the photo and put it in a frame and it now graces a wall in my bathroom. Every time I look at it I think of my BFF.

Saturday Quilty Friends

Stitching with friends is the best way to spend time, isn't it? That is how I spent my Saturday last weekend. Quilty Friend and I meet once a month alternating locations, her house or mine. Saturday we met at her house and look what she gave me! A treasure box of goodies that included a lot of homespun pieces, a red work hummingbird kit some blank recipe cards, a wonderful vintage red velvet turtle pincushion and three different sets of vintage cocktail napkins. You will see what I use the napkins for in a later post.

Aren't friends wonderful?

I spent the time working on Gail Pan's A Christmas Wish BOM blocks. And by doing all that stitching, I found out that my new glasses (6 weeks old) do not work for closeup stitching! O no! I had to put a pair of those magnifier cheapie glasses on in front of my normal bifocals just to see the stitches. Time to go back and complain, I guess, as this is just not right.

Thank you, Friend

I was in the Wool Basket this past Tuesday; the reason I was there is fodder for another post. Stopping to admire a small Christmas tree decorated with primitive wool ornaments, I fingered one and commented on how adorable it was but that I would probably never have one as I do not have a wool stash.

When I got home from work yesterday, there among the rest of the mail, was an envelope from Libby. Inside the envelope was an adorable wool wreath just like the one at the Wool Basket. Libby, how did you know? It is just so sweet and now I have one of my own.

Friend Libby, I thank you and will think of you each time I see this wreath.

From A Simple Girl to The Quilter

I had a great mail day on Friday! I came home from work to this! Isn't it just the cutest little thing? It is about 10" square and is a darling little thing. My dear friend Libby (a.k.a. A Simple Girl) made this especially for me.

It was wrapped in Libby-esque tissue. O and there was the sweet little chicken pincushion. This chicken is really hard to capture in a picture. She is very camera shy!

Thank you, my friend, for a precious little quilt. It is already snuggled into the rest of my preciouses (I just kinda quoted Gollum from The Lord of the Rings) on the quilt wall.

Here's the label. Isn't it just like Libby?
