Thrifting

213908002

This really is a pin. I found this little bow on the floor of the gallery last year and put it on my desk. It has been floating around the top of my desk for a whole year and even was stuck to the corner of the monitor for a while. I brought it home and hotglued a pin finding on the back of it. This little package tie is only about 1.5" diameter and is purple (although the photo doesn't show it).

The holiday party was a hit last night. There was only one accident. The lid to my crock pot landed on the concrete floor of the garage and shattered. So today, I went thrifting. Four thrift stores and do you think I could find a lid to fit? Not. I thought about ordering one (pieces and parts) but the crock pot is wearing out anyway (I use it a lot -- we like soups and stews). I think I'll drop a hint in Santa's Little Helper's ear (CarGuy).

It obviously was my day to be thrifty. Aside from the thrift stores I went to a big box craft store. When I go there, I always check out the clearance aisle. As I studying all the clearance items I found SHIVA PAINTSTICKS! This is a real find! I've been wanting to try some and the price was right. I also found these three fabrics 1 green, 2 blue, 3 wine for $3.00 a yard. But wait! That's not all! I also got this really kewl little quilting notion called a Colorscope with a 40% off coupon that I can't wait to fool around with. A new toy! Even though I was shopping I was also thrifting.

  1. Sounds like the perfect reason to ask for a new crockpot. When mine (vintage 1979) finally bit the dust, I was amazed at how they had improved over the years ... the best feature, being able to remove the crock for cleaning. Should have bought a new one a long time ago *s*

  2. The Shiva paint sticks look cool. I've never heard of them before. I like crock pots too. I just wish I didn't have to be gone for 11 hours a day or I would use my crockpot more.

  3. I'm going to answer a comment you left on my blog here because your email doesn't show on your blog.

The UFO challenge I talked about is on the Stashbuster email list at Yahoo Groups. You sign up with 2 FQs and a couple stamps and then try NOT to become Queen by finishing UFOs to keep your name off the top of the list. Every time you finish your name goes to the bottom of the list. If you do become Queen you have 1 week to finish a UFO or you owe another FQ and stamp penalty. The FQs are used as prizes for quarterly and a big yearly draw between everyone who finished UFOS during that quarter/year. You get your name in the pot for every UFO you finish. It's just something to give an incentive to finish stuff instead of just creating more UFOs. I've never played before but decided this year maybe I need that extra motivation.

BTW, to keep on topic for YOUR post - I LOVE my crockpot. In fact I have 3. One very large, one medium and one very small. And I use all 3 often depending on what I'm making. Tomorrow morning the biggest one hold pot roast. Add a loaf of bread started in the breadmachine and supper will be done when I get home. Yum, yum...
