Just proves no matter how good it is - they just don't make things like they used to *s* I must get my treadle in working condition. I really would love to stitch something on it.
Oh no! Thank goodness for the good old trustworthy treadle!
I think you should arrest those blue jeans and make them do 500 hours of community service for breaking the machine. Your Singer is gorgeous.
Oh no - how terrible. How your machine is a better soon. But what a lovely little treadle machine that you have there.
What a beautiful machine! AND it's not just another pretty face either--it actually works! Bummer about your Bernina though--hope it comes home from the hospital soon.
I have 2 treadles.....good to know that if my machine breaks down the old ones r even more reliable....hope u get ur Bernina back soon!!
That treadle machine is stunningly beautiful. Old trusty to the rescue. I hope your Bernina isn't badly injured and doesn't have to stay away too long.
What a beauty!
That singer looks like the one I learned to sew on! is it a treadle? That machine would sew through leather!
Wow, I'm surprised. I will admit that I once used my Bernina to work on my dd's jeans knowing that it was due for a cleaning. Then again I have an older model a 1090 that I wouldn't trade for the world. Do you have a newer Bernina? Good luck with your machine. Nice treadle!
I've done that same trick to my Bernina with the jeans. A quick trip to the shop and they fixed it for me. Somehow I learned to sew jeans with a big needle and to sew S-L-O-W and I don't have any trouble. The old singer is georgous. Great to have a back-up, but do you know a quilter who DOESN'T have a backup?....or two, or three?
Thanks for the tip! I'm glad your backup machine did the repair work.
Hey...I just got a Bernina and it's supposed to sew through anything!!! Yikes, thanks for the warning!
I learnt to sew on a machine like that but it didn't have such beautiful decoration. Treasure it!
Oh I have done that...It's a heart wrenching feeling..not to worry there are wonderful sewing machine people that can put it all right.TTFN
Ooooohhhh......that is just too beautiful. I've been hunting for one of those for a long time, there's not too many that gorgeous out there.
You can't beat those old Singers for workhorses. I love the Red-eye. Beautiful machine.
The design on that Singer is postively beautiful! It would make me smile to sew on such a pretty machine. I would miss my Bernina though. Mine has been a trifle sensitive lately as well.
Your old Singer is beautiful and I think more strong for jeans.Bernina is right for patchwork? I've a Husqvarna and is good but not for jeans.ciao ciao
First off - what a beautiful machine! And so sorry you are without your "first". I need to take my Janome in for a tune up, and I hate to be without it so I keep putting it off. Bernie will be back before you know it.!
I'd be more inclined to blame the needle than the machine. People sew canvas and leather on Berninas, so I wonder if the needle wasn't large enough or maybe was defective, or not inserted far enough--something along that line. But what a good excuse to use that Singer beauty!
Just trying to catch up from being gone and working day and night! Gosh this is an absolutely GORGEOUS machine!
