As I mentioned in a previous post, I am cleaning up my picturetrail account. Look what I found! This is before quilting and it is hanging from the tip-top of the design wall and is crawling across the floor. See that 9patch block-- top row, second from the right? That bright blue? I have knocked back the brightness of it with a light gray FabricMate pigment dye pen. And without changing the value too much.
So here you have it: my gigantic value study quilt. I just can't seem to make small things. I'll continue on my quest for a shot of the whole thing with quilting.
It really is a beautiful quilt, Paula! Thank you for sharing this photo! Hope you find a shot with the quilting as well.
ReplyDeleteLove the blue quilt, the bright blue gives the quilt that zing. I look forward to the quilted picture.
ReplyDeleteI have a similar UFO - value study in blues, mine also looks at contrast in blocks... (Since I never got past pinning (poorly) the patches to the vinyl table cloth, I may swap out some of those old blues for some of my newer ones...
ReplyDeleteLove the quilt - particularly the way the blue grades from light to dark. Great :)
ReplyDeleteIt is wonderful. Even with a bright blue 9-patch! It gives it character.
ReplyDeleteThis is an amazing quilt! I have the opposite problem of you...can't seem to make anything that isn't small!
ReplyDeleteWhen they are bigger - you can snuggle with a buddy *s*
ReplyDeleteLooks great.
You made a beautiful quilt! It's so pretty with all the blues. :)
ReplyDeleteThat is a stunning quilt!
ReplyDeleteFABULOUS quilt Paula!
ReplyDeleteI have a quilt top with a similar problem.....one fabric is in the Half Log Cabin blocks that stands out like crazy, so am thinking of trying to do a light paint wash on the stips instead of unpicking it all........thanks for the idea!
Really great quilt top..and so clever as to color away the blue you didn't like...I like that idea!
ReplyDeleteI'm curious to know more about the picture rail limitation? Is that something we have to worry about?
What happens when you hit the limit? So many questions I know..sorry. Hugs, Finn
Wowzer! This is a colorful quilt to value all right! :) Great job, Paula.
ReplyDeleteLovely quilt :-)
ReplyDeleteI love blue and white quilts and this one is great, both the pattern and the value contrast make it special.
