Avast, me hearties!

I'm late on the International Speak Like a Pirate Day. So sue me. But I have booty! Booty, I say! (Booty, a nautical term for Treasure.)

I went to the Colorado Quilting Council's annual Quilt-A-Fair today. I really wanted to see the Ground Zero Quilt, even reading about it brought tears to my eyes but I wasn't able to find it. But then I zipped in and out of the show in record time. One and a half hours; I was on a mission.

Libby mentioned in a post the other day about Aurifil thread so I thought I'd try some. I got a nice neutral gray a color I piece with a lot. And for you Civil War repro girls did you notice the fabric? Hmm? I have a new quilt planned. And to use the stash I had to buy more. Now how does that compute?

And I just fell in love with the Crabapple Hill stitchery kit. Everything was included, even the DMC embroidery floss. This will give me my second (count 'em 1, 2!) fall item.

You know, for autumn being my favorite time of year, I am woefully lacking in fallish items. I think it comes from not working in those colors. So I am trying to remedy this embarrassing deficient.

There were some lovely quilts displayed at the show but they are hung waaaay up high and back to back, so not only is it almost impossible to take a photo, but the likelyhood of being run over by hordes of shopping quilters is great. I noticed a lot more vendors from Kansas this year, and of course, Pincushion Boutique was back. Mmmmm... I could get into serious debt in their booth.

  1. Lovely pile of goodies. I like Pincushion Boutique. I bought one of their patterns and Sweet Treats last summer and made myself a fall quilt.

  2. That is beautiful booty! I missed Talk Like a Pirate Day too, so I appreciate you giving me this chance to say "booty" on a quilt blog. (I say it all the time on my Gansta blog)

You can never have too many fall decorations. You better get crackin!

  3. You've got a nice booty. Makes me embarassed to even say that! I love fall fabrics, even though I am lacking in fallish items, well finished ones anyway! I'm going to remedy that this fall too.

  4. Went to our Trinity Valley Quilt show yesterday...first time for me, but my girlfriend said there was only about 1/4 of the vendors they usually have. It was a nice show, tho'.

    Paula,

If you were at the Aurifil booth, you were very close to the Ground Zero quilt. It was located in the adjoining room (with the CQC displays).

  7. Wow, great looking loot (aka booty). I love the Crabapple stitchery kit - sooooo cute. I don't have many fall decorations either. Sigh! :-)

  8. Hand over the booty and no one gets hurt! (just kidding) I totally understand needing to buy more to use up what you have -- there may be something wrong with me that I do, but hey.

Let us know how you like the aurifil. I've been thinking of giving it a try.

  9. Ah, yes, I know the Pincushion well--it's one of my local-ish shops. Their Sweet Treats are kind of fun, but then I want to buy two or three to make something larger! LOL! You just reminded me that I picked up one of their patterns a year or so ago--I ought to go track that down.

  10. Love the Aurifil thread for piecing. It's fine and relatively lint-free. Plus, it seems like bobbins last forever. It's my new favorite! Love the fall fabric colors.
