I seem to have caught a doozy of a cold. When I get colds they always settle in my throat and I lose my voice. Yesterday I was cozied up on the couch, knitting, and CarGuy was channel surfing on the teevee. He stopped on the SciFi channel and we ended up watching Stephen King's "The Stand" -- all 8 hours of it. Here's a bit of trivia for you: did you know that Stephen King always has a bit part in the movies made from his books? In The Stand it was about 5 hours in: he was driving a 4x4 with Nadine as his passenger. Remember Maximum Overdrive? He was at the beginning of that on as a dweeby tourist trying to get money out of an ATM. The ATM's screen was flashing curse words at him.
It probably wasn't the best thing to watch while you are sick. After all, a Super Flu (nick named Captain Trips) kills off a lot of people. They were coughing and wheezing and I was coughing and wheezing right along with them.
However, I did get in a lot of knitting time. In fact, I finished the gray shawl. I need to block it and then I can show a photo.
Today I was feeling a bit better and was able to get into the sewing room for a while. I worked on the Winter Quilt for the 4 Seasons Quilt Swap a little bit before loosing energy and pooping out. I have decided that I need to start disinfecting my workstation and desk at work. I'm pretty sure that is where I caught this: you know how little kids spread germs and parents bring them into work. My computer at work gets used by several different people before I even get into work. Bring on the Lysol and the disinfectant wipes!
I must have the same cold. Hope you are feeling better!
ReplyDeleteMerry Christmas to you and your family!!!
I hope you have a really better day tomorrow and that your Christmas is full of joy. cw
ReplyDeleteOh boy...I understand the office germs! I've considered wearing a mask and gloves as a preventative measure! Great news that the shawl is done, yea! I'm no further on my 4 season quilt than you are...it's this Fridays quilt gathering project.
ReplyDeleteTime to watch A Christmas Story. :)
I'm getting over my winter cold, although I'm sitting here sneezing my way through Christmas morning.
ReplyDeleteI'm not a fan of Stephen King, but I'm a sucker for war movies. Bring out Gods and Generals and Gettysburg and I'm set for the day.
I hope you're feeling better soon.
You got through more of The Stand than I did, read the book twice, watched some while I was frantically crocheting. Everyone at my house has a cold also. Get well and enjoy the holidays.
ReplyDeleteI think I remember watching The Stand as a mini series. I am sorry you aren't feeling well - hope you feel better soon. Merry Christmas.
ReplyDeleteThe cold/lurgy/flu has been making the rounds in this household too. Hope you are feeling better soon!
