A Quick Post

I'm on the home stretch about getting Auntie into the assisted living. O my I'm tired. I've been going full-tilt boogie for weeks. Yesterday and today CarGuy, TheKid and I were all in Denver-town moving furniture and setting up her apartment. Tomorrow is sort of a day off for me, but I still need to get several things: a tension rod and some short sheers, a 2 cup coffee maker, a mattress pad. Monday I'll get Auntie out of the nursing facility and take her to her new home. Then I am going to concentrate on getting well. I have been sick since November 27 and need to rest and recuperate.

I've been knitting. A long time ago, about 5 years?, I unraveled a sweater that I had knit for CarGuy. What was I thinking when I made that for him out of wool? Let's face it, the man is a teeshirt and blue jeans kind of guy. I made it shortly after we were married 30 years ago and I think he wore it twice. So anyway I unraveled it. I am now using the yarn to knit mittens for the homeless. I'll get about 6 or 7 pair of mittens from this one sweater. And knitting mittens is mindless. I can just go on autopilot and knit.

On the quilting side of things, I've been slowing working on the Winter Quilt Swap. I got started on the hand quilting and did not like the pattern I was doing so I picked it out and am doing something different. I'll probably post again sometime next week.

  1. You're in my thoughts...what a lucky Auntie to have You there for her. I'm sure she is more than appreciative of your dedication to her and all that you do. I hope you are able to get that rest you need and deserve and do get well. Hugs....

  6. Feel better. Knowing that your Auntie is well cared for should help you to acquire some peace for your spirit and the body will follow suit. The mittens will be treasured for sure.

  7. It is worth all the effort. looking after the older ones. When they are no longer there you will be able to look back and be glad you cared so much. Sometimes they can be taken from us quickly, and unexpectedly and it's too late to help any more.

But you are important too so I hope very soon you get some special time out to call your own. Hugs from Ali.

Just found my way here and recognized the assisted living place as similar to one my mother lives in in New Jersey...she's in the Alzheimer's wing...it's quite a nice place and the staff are very caring.
