Here's the latest installment of the Homespun BOM. The quilter who picked this block called it Fox and Geese, but after doing a bit of research I came up with the more well known name of Old Maid's Puzzle. It is also know as Double X, Hour Glass, Crosses and Losses and Goose & Gosslings.
Do you have a different name for this block?
Double X (but you mentioned that one) this is the one that I will do in taupes. I make the small dark triangles medium with the large ones being dark - the tertiary pattern is large dark shooting stars, with the secondary pattern being medium valued shooting stars.
ReplyDelete"Too much work for me"...but you probably already knew that one. In fact, I know a lot of blocks by that particular name ;)
ReplyDeleteI can see why it would be called Hour Glass, but I have to stretch my imagination for some of those names -- and my imagination doesn't stretch far enough for a couple of them! I really enjoy all the names for blocks, and love to see the names people give their quilts.
ReplyDeleteWhatever the name - they look good *s*
ReplyDeleteThis is an amazing block - sooo many possibilities for design. Have fun!
ReplyDeleteI know it as Old Maids Puzzle. I still think that this is going to be a fantastic quilt.
ReplyDeleteI don't know anohter name, but I love your blocks.
ReplyDeleteBy whatever name you call it -- they are sweet. Love the Four Season's Quilts (and no, I haven't forgotten -- but, well, I've just gotten to the point where I can thread a needle smaller than one for weaving in yarn ends again without the air turning blue) as well -- fun, fun projects!
