Kewl Idea

I was just in my LYS Woolen Treasures and ordered 8 skeins of Cascade 220 in color number 2404. It's about 1/4 of the way down the page. I'll be making this.

Any way, as I'm cruising around the shop I spied this little gem: a shop sample just hanging out quietly saying look at me. This is a knitted purse, but I love the handle. Can you figure out what it is? That's right -- it is a belt! You could use this idea on any type of bag, not just a knitted or crocheted bag.

Now I just need to get busy making bags. I have a lot of old belts just hiding in my closet. What a great way to de-clutter something I am not using.

  2. The bag handle is a good idea . . . but that hoodie! I am a hoodie girl *s* Ever since I got my first white sweatshirt pullover hoodie at Rasco's back in the 70's - I have been rockin' the look.

  3. What did I do last week? I dropped off a box at Goodwill, and among all the other things in that box were about a dozen belts I no longer wear! Oh, the pain -- a couple of them especially would have made great handles. Ah, well...

  4. Aha! What an idea. But now my brain is going through my put away waist sizes versus waste sizes. My garage stash of size 2T might work for a 'clutch' and if I get another bowl of ice cream, I might be looking forward to a 'shoulder bag' in no time (not to mention a few 'pouches' ;) Actually, this might make a good diet plan as welling as eco-sewing/knitting plan. But, all kidding aside, you really did have a clever idea, Paula!

  5. That is a great idea, and you can adjust it to exactly how long you want it to be.

  6. what a great idea for bag handles...imagine the interesting ones you could pick up at second hand stores...I will keep that idea in the back on my head!
the tumbler blocks are not charm quilts. There are probably 3-4 of each fabric in each...I jsut had to find a way to use up some of the fabric I just didn't have enough of to make "coordinated quilts", or I didn't like the fabric anymore....I will give them away as gifts when I need a present!

  7. I love bags! and I have a ton of patterns to make bags! and I have a bunch of belts that I was just going to send to Goodwill, I'll hold onto the belts now I just have to MAKE THE BAGS! That belt idea definitely moves the bag making along. will have to try that

  8. I agree, good idea for belt usage. I saw another totally different idea on Daily Danny dot com [might be blogspot in there...] Anyway, he saw a RUG made from belts...like I said, different.

I also love the sweater you plan to make, wish I could knit...
