Frances Bugged Me
Here is Frances. There was something about her that really, really bothered me. She was a toe grabber. It was all my own fault: I was hasty when I machine appliqued the fans down to the background. I was younger then and not as conscientious then as I am now.
Needless to say, when she came back from the long arm quilter and the quilting was exquisite, I just knew something needed to be done about the applique. So in the evenings for the past several weeks I sat under her all cozy and picked out the machine applique (blind hem stitch before you ask) and then stitched it all down by hand.
Now she is washed, which I didn't want to do before because of the big gaps in the applique. Another soft and snuggly quilt.

Frances is GORGEOUS!!!! and so is your wool wreath, how precious and what a great idea, I too wish I had enough wool stash to make one!

Hurray for Frances! Good for you that you sewed her up good and right. Very pretty!
ReplyDeleteShe is so beautiful! I went to the thrift store yesterday, and was tempted to buy a quilt that had a similar pattern, not as nice of course. It was beautiful but it was twin size so I forced myself to resist.
ReplyDeleteA beautiful lovely friend you have there. It is a very stunning quilt.
ReplyDeleteThe quilt is beautiful!
ReplyDeleteFrances must thank you now. Lovely
ReplyDeleteSometimes, we just have to do something over again to make things right .... and now you are happy and you can enjoy your lovely quilt without thinking 'I should ....'
ReplyDeleteJust stunning! Great job.
ReplyDeleteIsn't that Simple girl a peach? I was also gifted with one of her wreaths and I am so jazzed.

ReplyDeletePretty, pretty! I am glad you have such a lovely quilt to snuggle down with, because I hear the snow has been blowing! What a lot of disciplined work you did...Woo Hoo!!
ReplyDeleteWhatever time you put into it (again) it's really pretty and friendly, and now, Frances has a story to go along with it. 8-)
ReplyDeleteYou have more patience than anyone I have ever met. Picking out and redoing all that applique......It's gorgeous now, though, so I'm sure it was worth it.
ReplyDeleteWhat a wonderful quilt! So glad you fixed the thing that bugged you about it, and now you can be so proud of your work and really enjoy it!
ReplyDeleteI think Frances is a very nice girl - and so pretty, too *s*

ReplyDeleteSo, how do you spell DETERMINATION? Ha!! Well done, Paula. Now you and Frances can live a long and happy life together...
ReplyDeleteI loved the comment you left on Libby's blog about the Bathroom santa....laughed every time I think of it. The quilt looks wonderful...I admire your effort to re'sew the applique. I think it looks grand.
ReplyDeleteIts just beautiful. I know it was a lot of work to pick out all of that machine stitching, but it would probably have always bothered you. The finished quilt is so wonderful.
ReplyDeleteEarlier in my life, I would hastily leave well enough alone...now I go back and fix up so it's done right.
ReplyDeleteI like it better that way!
Good job. Beautiful work.
