Through The Gate

through-the-gate
Quilt measures 4" x 6".

I have pondered on what to show in the Park City Girl: Quilt Festival - Fall 2009. I decided that Through The Gate would be my entry into the festival. A year or so ago I took a class that featured fusible webbing and cutting a 'window' from black fabric to highlight a scene made from a focus fabric. The focus fabric I chose was actually too small in scale for the size of the wall hanging. However, I used the same two fabrics and created this postcard and the scale is better on the postcard than on the wall hanging. The black gate is a combination of the fusing technique and satin stitching.

  1. So, when you say postcard, you mean it is the size of a normal postcard? It is very beautiful!

  2. Oh now this is neat and I don't recall seeing it either so it's a doublemint treat!!!

I can't imagine how difficult it was to do that cutting. Is this what they consider when referring to stained glass cutting as well?

  8. I printed it out to show it to one of my quilty friends. She's not a blogger but absolutely loves to do "though the doorway/window" quilts. Nice effort!
