Many years ago, in fact too many to even remember, Plantwoman sent me a greeting card with this picture. She doesn't smoke and never has, nor does she have hair like this but still this reminds me of her. Why? It's the bathtub. She lives in an older house with a small bathroom and a tub exactly like this one: perfect for soaking. I matted the photo and put it in a frame and it now graces a wall in my bathroom. Every time I look at it I think of my BFF.
What a relaxing image. Oh, yes, those are great old tubs. The only drawback I see is that it takes forever to fill them! My mother-in-law had one in her old house, but the bathroom was on the top floor and the water heater in the basement, so you had to plan ahead to fill the bathtub. It took a while for the hot water to reach you. That tub was so large you almost floated in it. Luxury! My 1960's house bathtubs are barely deep enough to get your knees submerged.

ReplyDeleteWhat a nice picture to remind you of your friend! We had a tub like that when I was little - Mom used it out in the horse pen for the horses water. On a hot day we would scrub it out and play in it! Mom said that it was cast iron and cold so she gave it to the horse. Funny!

ReplyDeleteI use to have a footie tub and loved it. This brings back some good memories. You can't get better than soaking in a tub like that.

We have a tub just like that. I love to soak in it. We have an on-demand hot water heater (tankless) so I can keep the hot water flowing into the tub for hours (the excess goes out the overflow). Cast iron tubs retain heat.
