The Quilter Quilts

Several requests came through to show the quilting on the recent Quilts of Valor. I quilt on my home sewing machine which is an older Bernina 1080 QE. It has no stitch regulator like the newer models, but she and I understand each other.
Dwirling resembles a topographical map.

Loop-d-loop seems to be my 'go to' stitch.

A heart-shaped petaled flower fills the 5" square. To the right is the E stitch.

  1. Lovely quilting. I too quilt on my domestic sewing machine, but I must admit I just bought a new machine, just for quilting. It is a Brother 1500 and only does one stitch, straight. I wanted a machine to use just for quilting free motion or straight, but wanted the throat area larger, all without taking on a second mortage. It does not arrive until the end of the month. I will post a picture of my new toy. Happy quilting.

  2. Very, very nice Paula! I think a lot of us assumed you had a long arm...but instead, just two very talented normal ones ;)

  3. I just love your quilting! Mine turns out rather like a knotted mess...every time!! Sigh...but now I have a walking foot and will try, try again!

  4. How fun and also, I must say, multi-talented. Now I also have to say that my favorite is the dwirling. It really does resemble a topographical map. THAT'S COOL.

  5. You do it all very well! your "girl" certainly understands you.
E's and M's are what my second cousin Laura Wasilowski does on a lot of hers!!! Just had to throw out that I'm related to a famous quilt person. ;-)

  8. Thanks for a peek of the quilting! I have only tried straight stitching on my quilts.
I'll have to be brave, for my next one, whatever year that ends up being.

  9. I have a Bernina 1080 QE! Maybe that is why you and I speak the same language! My Bernie loves me!
