On The Needles - 06/15/2012

I finished the other pair of socks and cast on another pair. Does that surprise you? No? Me neither. What does surprise me is that this skein and it's mate are my last pair of self striping sock yarns. I'm not saying that I don't have more sock yarn, I just don't have any more self striping. This is somewhat of a relief, as I have been working toward this goal: to use up my sock yarn. Self striping yarn limits one because you can't really see the lovely textured patterns when the stripes get in the way.

The other project I have on the needles are another pair of fingerless mitts. Here is a very different yarn indeed. This is Berroco Metallic FX and is 85% Rayon and 25% metallic. You can see the glint of the metallic. Notice how flatness of the 'yarn', it is like knitting with ribbon. Occasionally, I have to let it hang so it untwists. I had 4 skeins of this and I think I'll be able to knit up 3 pair of this mitts.

Go over to Judy's to see more OTN projects.

  1. I would have to knit a LOT of socks to get to where you are right now, as I have more self-striping than plain or semi-solid yarn. ;o)

  2. I'm loving the glitz on the fingerless mitts. Self striping yarn is limiting isn't it? It's great though when you want an easy, no-brainer project.

  4. I'm with Nancy, I have a collection of self striping and little plain. I'm going to have to find some of the glittery yarn for mitts for the grandgirls!

  5. Ah, well you are using up your sock yarn? You know that means a shopping trip to find new yarn ;-) The mitts look great-I have that on my to do list.
