Talk about thread nests

I'm a bit OCD. I bet that doesn't surprise some people. I save the empty spools when I use all the thread up. I used up 23 spools of thread last year, BTW. I also found myself saving my thread snips. Not intentionally, I swear! I just never emptied my little bin I keep by my sewing machine. Here is a photo of last year's batch. I actually had a hard time getting it out of the bin.
I put the quarter coin in for a reference.

  1. Now THAT is a lot of thread!

  2. Lol. I saved my yarn snips from two of my afghans. Amazing how much there was especially for the grannies square one.

  3. Oh no don't through this away! Use it for art quilts! Thread makes for great hair. You can spread out on a piece of fabric and top with water solvable fusible and press for a new piece of decorative fabric. Give it a try!

  4. That is a lot of thread - long pieces too. You can use leaders and enders to avoid more accumulation. I was thinking it would make a good art quilt too!
