Crafty Lady...

I haven't been quilting much lately. I've been busy making these stash busters. They are 'Ditty Bags'; just a drawstring bag for whatever, however. The size is dictated by fabric quantity. Notice the draw strings? I have a stash of old hemming tape that is perfect for the drawstrings. I keep my knitting in one of these bags. I also use them to 'wrap' gifts.

I also copied Finn, who uses strips of fabric, by crocheting this little item out of a stash of nylon stretch lace hemming tape. I have a largish mat to put under plants.

Stash busting hemming tapes. Yay!

  3. Hey Paula, you KNOW I just had to pop straight over, even used your name as a link rather than look in my favorites!! It's wonderful, your hemming tape mat! Purely brillant, and isn't it fun to 'con-coct' things that might work??? It is just over the top great, I think.
In no sense do I agree that it was a copy...please amend to inspired by...you get ALL the credit for this wonderful creation...*VBS* That's one of the things I love about you and your blog...you take chances! I love the Red post...gorgeous picture, gutsy move to shorten 4 layers! Well done!
And the Ditty bags are fun, that's an old military term isn't it? I only remember hearing it when we were in the USAF..but it stuck. OK what's next?*VBG* Hugs, Finn

  4. Great use of old stuff. When I first saw the bags, I thought those would be great for gifts, and of course you've already thought of that. On a mailing list I was on, Doctors Without Borders collected drawstring bags and gave medicine out in those bags. I'm thinking my dentist could use those too - when I got the toothpaste, toothbrush, and floss, and had to carry it since I didn't bring a purse.

  5. I haven't thought about hem tape for ages, and the stretch lace type makes these lovely little crocheted mats... who woulda thunk it? Great job!
