On The Needles - June 9, 2012

JudyL has started an OTN Friday. I love it, since I am not only a quilter but a knitter. I have found that a lot of quilters are also knitters. Are you one? If you are, then link up to Judy's post here.

I currently have two projects. This mass of pink and black was an Adult Surprise Jacket. 'Was' is the important word here. It is off the needles. I made a decision this morning that I would probably not wear this jacket so I am ripping it out to reclaim the yarn. It is a combination of a pink hand painted Atacama alpaca by Araucania and Premier Serenity Sock yarn in black. You can see all those (200+!!) live stitches there to the left.

Next up is the current pair of socks. Can you believe that I actually matched these? This is a lovely yarn from Regia designed by Kaffe Fassett. Yes, that Kaffe. I knit my socks on 2 different lengths of circular needles and that bead-like thing hanging from the yarn-fabric is my row counter and a couple of stitch markers. And for those who want to know, the heel is a Slightly Modified Garter Stitch Edge Eye of Partridge Heel.

  1. I can see why you decided to save the yarn as it's too nice to not use. I like your socks with the bright colors and the broad stripes. Congrats on matching them!

  5. Lovely and colorful socks; must be tedious to make since you actually tried to match them. Amazing hands and skills! :)
