So I Told Myself
stop whining already and make one for yourself. What, you might ask, is she talking about? Why, a new weighted pincushion, of course! Isn't it cute? I have a lot of pincushions but they either have magnets in them or they are too lightweight. So I made my own pincushion and weighted it with crushed walnut shells. My pins slide right in, the weight keeps it handy and stable and I do not have to worry about magnets near my sewing machine. Isn't it a cutie?

Woolies
Remember the remark I made in a previous post about going into the Wool Basket? The Wool Basket sells felted wool, hand-dyed felted wool and wool felt along with all the miscellaneous items one needs to work with wool.
The purchase of a fat eight of a pink and a white felted wool resulted in these two sweet items. The pattern for the pincushion hat has lanquished in the To Be Made file for several years and then sighting on the internets brought it to the forefront again. I had held off making this because I did not want to start stashing wool.
Then I found this adorable pattern for a sewing caddy. And after all the hand work on Frances, I realized I needed something better and prettier to use than sticking the needles in the arm of the sofa.
Resistance was futile.

Let Them Eat Cake!
Cupcakes that is.
At the November meeting of our little quilt group, The Material Girls, the hostess had these kits made up for us. They contained all the makings of a high-fiber cupcake. She had her sewing machine set up for anyone who wanted to stitch it up by machine, but the majority did hand work. We worked in unison as she guided us through the steps.
My cupcake overflowed on the other side as the gathering stitches were pulled irregularly.
It's a cute little pincushion that I can add to my collection.
